HOUSTON – Ryan VanDenburg of the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team was named Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Male Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 8-14, it was announced Monday.
VanDenburg, a junior from Huntington Beach, helped the Cougars snap a five-match winless streak with a hat trick against Marymount College last Wednesday. He scored the team's first three goals as the Cougars stomped the Mariners, 5-2, for their first win since Sept. 11.
