Track and Field wraps up regular season with strong effort at Cal State LA

Amber Rosario breaks two school records, and men’s 4x800 qualifies for Nationals


Results

The Cal State San Marcos Track and Field teams competed in their last competition Saturday before the NAIA National Championships, putting together an afternoon of solid performances at the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational.

The Cougar men's 4x800 team of Easton Tackett, Ryan Jenson, Lenny Santana, and Daniel Lyon qualified for nationals with a time of 7:45.64, the 13th fastest in the NAIA this year.

On the women's side, sophomore Amber Rosario broke two school records, one of which she already held. Her time of 24.31 in the 200m eclipsed her previous record of 24.55, and she broke a 4-year old record in the 100H by running 14.03. Ashleigh Davis held the record prior to Saturday with a time of 14.21.

Fellow sophomore Heidi Swanson set a personal best in the 800m, running 2:13.78. She now ranks 13th in the 800 and 14th in the 1500m.

The Cougars will be sending 7 men and 13 women to the NAIA National Championships in Marion, Indiana May 24-26th
