Cal State San Marcos Athletics is pleased to announce Mathew Berson as the permanent Sports Information Director. The applicant pool was extremely competitive for the position.
 
Matt comes to CSUSM with three years of experience working in a college athletics setting. He served most recently as Sports Information Assistant at UC San Diego, where he assisted in media relations and in running the Triton website.  Mathew is used to being the primary contact for a variety of intercollegiate teams.
 
Prior to working as UC San Diego, Matt served as a Communications Assistant at UC Santa Barbara from 2009-2010, where he assisted in the editing and maintenance of the athletic website, developed web-based video content, and integrated department releases onto social media websites. 
 
CSUSM Athletic Director Jennifer Milo had excellent things to say about Matt. “We are excited to welcome Mathew to our university and our Athletic Department.  Mathew brings with him a wealth of knowledge and NCAA experience to our Sports Information Department.  He will help take CSUSM Athletics to new heights as it relates to the marketing and exposure that our successful teams and student-athletes deserve.  Mathew's experience is cutting edge and we can expect to see more social media & video exposure.  Mathew is a great addition to our team.”
 
Within the department, Matt will be in charge of promoting CSUSM Athletics through the csusmcougars.com website and social media pages, serving as the official scorer at all home events, and working as the main contact for media and the community. Mathew's first day of employment at CSUSM will begin June 4, 2012.
