No. 8 CSUSM Scores School Record 113 Points in Blowout Win

Box Score OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Six Cougars finished in double figures and the No. 8 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team scored a school-record 113 points in a 113-80 triumph over San Diego Christian on Friday night at MiraCosta College.

De'End Parker scored 24 points, Malcolm Lemmons had his third double-double in his last five games, and the Cougars shot over 50 percent for the fourth time this season.

Their 113 points are two more than the previous high of 111 scored in a 40-point win over La Sierra last season on Jan. 31, 2013. Tonight's game marks the fourth time CSUSM has scored over the century mark in its three-year history.

As of midnight Saturday, the Cougars have the third-most wins in NAIA Division I behind Dalton State (Ga.) (13) and Talladega (Ala.) (13). CSUSM is 12-1 overall and has won three straight.

Lemmons registered 17 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and went 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. Bobby Macias matched Lemmons with 17 points in his return from a from an eight-game hiatus, going 6-of-8 from the field while dishing out a game-high four assists.

Quincy Lawson was equally efficient from the floor, making seven of his nine attempts for 15 points. In his last three contests, Lawson is shooting 66.7 percent (16-of-24) and is averaging three blocks per game.

Jason Johnson and Adam Eakles rounded out the group in double figures with 16 points and 10 points, respectively.

SDCC (3-4) led by four early on, but Parker scored six points in an 11-0 run that saw the Cougars take 21-14 lead 10 minutes in.

The Hawks would cut their deficit to three with 2:58 to play. However, CSUSM closed the half with a 10-2 run to take a 46-35 into the intermission.

CSUSM blasted out of the gate with a 10-0 spurt to take a 21-point advantage less than two minutes in.

SDCC had no answer, and the Cougars wouldn't allow the Hawks with 18 the rest of the way.

Jacob Andersson came in off the bench and pocketed three steals in nine minutes.

CSUSM's hot start will be put to the test during the New Year's Cougar Classic Dec. 27 & 28 at Alliant International University in San Diego.

The Cougars open the competition against defending NAIA Division II national champion Cardinal Stritch (11-2) on Friday, Dec. 27th at 7:30 p.m.

Also in the tournament is Hope International (10-1), the only team to beat CSUSM this season. HIU opens the competition against Waldorf (4-4) on Dec. 27th at 5:30 p.m.

The winner of each game will play each other in the championship on Saturday, Dec. 28th at 7:30 p.m. The consolation game will take place earlier at 5:30 p.m.

As always, youth 12 & under wearing their youth basketball jersey will be free of charge for the New Year's Cougar Classic. Accompanying parents are $5.
