SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The 22nd-ranked Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team tied The Master's College 1-1 on Saturday at Reese Field.
TMC's (0-4-1) Austin Rochow handed the Mustangs a 1-0 lead in the 77th minute, but Eric Lopez's strike four minutes later pulled the Cougars (5-1-2) even. Diego Fontes played Lopez through the right side of the TMC box before Lopez chipped the keeper to the back post.
Lopez is now tied for the team lead along with Fontes and Alex Jaziri, who have all scored three times this year.
CSUSM tallied four shots and earned a pair of corner kicks in the extra time, but could not find the game-winner.
Zach Sheppard registered a career-high 12 saves on the afternoon.
Saturday's match ended a tough stretch in which the Cougars played five matches in eight days. The Cougars went 2-1-2 in the timespan.
CSUSM will play its first home match since Sept. 4 on Tuesday against Westmont at 1:30 p.m. at Mangrum Soccer Field.
