NAIA All-America Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team had two players named NAIA All-America when the teams were released by the association Wednesday morning.
De'End Parker was selected to the First Team, while
Malcolm Lemmons was named to the Honorable Mention squad.
Parker is the first CSUSM basketball player to be named First Team NAIA All-America. Lemmons is the third player to be selected Honorable Mention, joining
Jose Rivera (2012-13) and Tim Steed (2011-12).
Parker and Lemmons started all 34 games this season for the Cougars, who spent seven straight weeks at No. 1 and earned the top overall seed for the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship. CSUSM won 23 straight games before falling in the Elite Eight to national runner-up Emmanuel (Ga.). The Cougars finished the year with a 32-2 overall mark.
Parker, a senior guard from San Francisco, led the Cougars in scoring (17.1 PPG), assists (4.06 APG), and defensive rebounding (135). He scored in double-digits in 32 games, 13 of which were 20-plus point performances. His banner game came against national champion Vanguard, when he scored 28 points and corralled 10 rebounds on Nov. 23, 2013. He was an All-A.I.I. First Team selection and was named A.I.I. Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Lemmons, a senior guard out of Washington, D.C., was named the A.I.I.'s Defensive Player of the Year and was also a First Team All-A.I.I. selection. He scored 15.6 points per game and had the second-highest rebounding average on the squad with 5.6 boards per game. He led the team in steals (63) and total rebounds (191). Lemmons registered a team-best five double-doubles.
