Cougars Blank Cal State Dominguez Hills for First Win of 2014

CARSON, Calif. – The 15th-ranked Cal State San Marcos women's team shutout Cal State Dominguez Hills, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Toro Stadium to secure its first win of the 2014 season.

The victory marks the Cougars' first win against an opponent from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) since 2008. CSUSM was recently accepted into the CCAA on Aug. 25 and will begin playing a CCAA schedule in the fall of 2015.

In addition, the victory was first-year head coach Bobby Renneisen's inaugural win as a collegiate head coach.

CSUSM improves to 1-0-1 while CSUDH drops to 0-2.

Amy Young started off the scoring in the 12th minute by finishing into the upper corner to make it 1-0 off an assist from Brianne Searl.

Sarah Campbell then notched the first goal of her Cougar career, scoring off a through ball from Paulina Good in the 58th minute.

Amanda Sears made a pair of saves in between the pipes for CSUSM. She and the Cougars have yet to surrender a goal this season.

The Cougars will host Southern Oregon (1-3) on Monday at 3 p.m. at Mangrum Soccer Field.
