SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team opened up the 2016-17 season with an 83-51 loss to No. 2-ranked Cal State Baptist on the first day of the #CSUSMHoops Classic at the Sports Center Friday night.
Down 45-27 at the half, the Cougars (0-1) came out of the break on fire and closed the gap to 11 points difference on a 3-pointer by Camp. The Lancers (3-1) answered by outscoring CSUSM 26-9 in the fourth quarter.
Junior
Raegan Lillie tallied a team-best 12 points, going 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Junior
Lupe Cruz snagged nine points, five rebounds and blocked two Lancer shots. Juniors
Savannah Camp and
Shekinah Broadway each added seven points.
The Lancers had three players reach double-digits in scoring with Cassidy Mihalko leading the way with 24 points.
The Cougars wrap up the #CSUSMHoops Classic against Montana State Billings on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
