LA JOLLA, Calif. – Freshmen
Danielle Pettit and
Ana Mercado-Yateem opened competition for the Cal State San Marcos women's track & field team on day one of the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego on Friday.
In the pole vault, Pettit placed 14th with a clearance of 3.31m, her second-highest mark of the season. Pettit is qualified for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships in the pole vault and 400-meter hurdles.
Mercado-Yateem finished 37th in the hammer throw with a mark of 29.24m and is qualified for the CCAA Championships in the discus, hammer and shot put.
Competition at the Triton Invitational resumes tomorrow, with field events getting underway with the javelin at 10:30 a.m. and track events scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the 4x100m relay.
